Resolution Together
Some of our Bristol Family Law Solutions lawyers are able to offer the Resolution Together route for separating couples. This is a one lawyer/ joint client option for couples who wish to separate amicably and in a joined-up way, both hearing the same advice, at the same time and making decisions about how best to share out their financial resources together.

This process is most suitable for divorcing couples who have a similar power balance, who are emotionally ready to discuss the issues in a joined up way, have built up their finances together and wish to agree an outcome that is fair to both parties. There is no need to hire separate lawyers, you will each have an individual meeting with the same lawyer first to ensure you understand the process and to ensure the lawyer is comfortable to work with both of you together or whether it would be more appropriate to bring in another collaborative lawyer [link to collaborative page of website]. For example, if the issues are more complex in your circumstances, or if one person feels they would prefer the support of their own lawyer, but would like to adopt the underlying principles of the Resolution Together process then a four way Collaborative Law process may well work better.

If the Resolution Together process is assessed as a suitable way forward, you will proceed to engage in a series of meetings with your joint lawyer, who will provide advice and help to you both as you look to navigate the separation and divorce process and bring in any third party expert advice that might be needed This might involve other professionals, such as pensions, financial or tax advice experts, or a mediator or barrister to explore specific areas of negotiation. The Resolution Together team is led by your jointly instructed lawyer and will be built around the needs of you both as a couple and your aspirations for navigating an outcome that you feel is fair and balanced. Whilst the focus of this option is usually division of finance on a divorce, discussions about child arrangements can be accommodated too and separation situations generally.
